Very sad, there are no words....

We just got a call from our birthmother. Our baby was to be born April 7th, and it looked like delivery was possible as soon as next week. Was.

He died in utero today. No heartbeat. Confirmed by ultrasound.

How can you grieve so hard for a child you never met? How can we handle a death we cannot commemorate?

You can. I think your family should have some type of gathering/service/memorial - something - to help you deal with this loss and find some closure (with time). Talk about what the baby meant to you, and how you would have welcomed him/her. Maybe you could plant a small flower bed this spring or do something else in memory? A loss is still a loss, even if you never got to hold the little one in your arms.

oh, my. I am so so sorry. I guess I have no words either. You should have some kind of memorial. I am praying for you all.

I can't even begin to say how we are mourning for and with your family right now. This is such devastating news and I just can't wrap my mind around it. God has a plan and sometimes it's just so hard to see what it is and why. Lots of love from our family to yours.
